Emulate leadership of Tanzania in refugee policy

The international community has been urged by the UN to learn from refugee policies in Tanzania.

The East African country has a history of taking in refugees from regional conflicts, including in Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

In 2010 more than 200,000 Burundian refugees were given Tanzanian nationality.

Assumpta Massoi spoke to the UNHCR Representative in Tanzania, Chansa Kapaya, ahead of Monday's major migrant and refugee summit at UN Headquarters in New York.
