"Deep concern" was expressed on Friday by the UN Security Council as members arrived in South Sudan, to assess what's been described as a "devastating" humanitarian crisis there.

The 15 Council members plan to spend three days in the world's youngest country, visiting Protection of Civilian Sites, talking to senior politicians and UN officials from the Mission, UNMISS.

The US Ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power, spoke to reporters after arriving at Juba airport.

Matthew Wells reports.
