Migration story "omitted for too long" says agency ahead of UN union

The UN family is set to get a little bigger.  That's because preparations are under way for a likely new addition: the International Organization for Migration, IOM, which hitherto has been an independent body. This follows a decision by IOM's 165 Member States to join forces with the United Nations. IOM's Leonard Doyle described the move as "historic" and said it reflected growing international concern about migration. He spoke to Daniel Johnson about the development.

Co-ops use their "global powers" to support the SDGs

Co-operatives are pledging to use their "global powers" to support the internationally-agreed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). That message comes from the president of the International Co-operative Alliance, Monique Leroux. Co-operatives, or "co-ops," are businesses run for and by their members where everyone has an equal say and a share in the profits. The UN International Day of Cooperatives is celebrated every year on July 2nd. Jocelyne Sambira asked Ms Leroux about its significance.

Global connectivity crucial for "full citizen engagement”

Global connectivity is crucial for ensuring "full citizen engagement" and achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). That’s according to David Nabarro, UN Special Adviser on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He believes it's the only way to guarantee marginalized people the access to information they need and deserve. Mr Nabarro spoke to Paul Conneally from the International Telecommunication Union or ITU after addressing a recent technology conference.
