The largest vaccination programme "ever done" to fight cholera in Haiti, is due to begin soon, initially targeting 750,000 in the centre of the Caribbean island nation.

The World Health Organization representative in Haiti, Jean-Luc Poncelet said that they hoped to complete the first phase of mass vaccination "by the end of the year".

Ten months after the 2010 earthquake, cholera appeared there for the first time in nearly a century.

An independent panel of experts confirmed that the source of the outbreak was caused by a bacteria introduced into Haiti "as a result of human activity."

Jerome Longue asked Dr Poncelet to outline the WHO strategy moving forward.
