Syria talks "not ruled out for July"

Fresh talks to decide the future of Syria are urgently needed, and the aim is still for them to take place in July, UN Special Envoy Staffan de Mistura said on Thursday. Speaking in Geneva, the veteran negotiator indicated that he will be asking the UN Security Council for guidance on the way forward. But Mr de Mistura also stressed that the success of any substantive talks, depends on pressure from Russia and the United States. Daniel Johnson reports from Geneva.

The journey of a photographer searching for normal moments in refugee lives

A British photographer who's been working with the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, to document the lives of refugees and migrants attempting to reach Europe, says he's more interested in showing the similarities between people, than their differences. Over 1.3 million people made the journey to Europe last year. Giles Duley accompanied some of them through the Balkans and witnessed their arrival at reception centres in Berlin, in Germany. Ana Carmo caught up with him, ahead of the World Refugee Day, marked annually on 20th June. He began by explaining what motivates him to work.
