Syria talks “not ruled out for July”

Fresh talks to decide the future of Syria are urgently needed, and the aim is still for them to take place in July, UN Special Envoy Staffan de Mistura said Thursday.

Speaking in Geneva, the veteran negotiator indicated that he will be asking the UN Security Council for guidance in coming days.

But Mr de Mistura also stressed that the success of the talks depends on pressure from Russia and the United States.
