Lorries carrying food aid have managed to reach the besieged Syrian town of Daraya, the UN has confirmed.

The humanitarian rations, which should last one month, are the first the town's estimated 4,000 inhabitants have received since 2012.

Jens Laerke, from the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinating Agency OCHA, explained to Daniel Johnson how the late-night operation was carried out with UN-partner organisation, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.
