"We are here to shape a different future": UN chief opens historic summit

The world needs to "shape a different future" to give people "a chance at a life in dignity."

That's according to UN chief Ban Ki-moon, opening the first ever World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, Turkey on Monday.

He told an audience of Member States, development and humanitarian agencies and many other concerned organizations that a record 130 million people around the world need aid to survive.
