The number of people fleeing fighting between government forces and rebels in the Sudanese state of South Kordofan continues to rise, the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) has reported.

Nearly 7,000 people have crossed into neighbouring South Sudan since January to escape aerial bombardments, hunger and a lack of educational opportunities for their children.

UNHCR said arrivals this month alone have so far topped 2,000.

David Lukan asked UNHCR's Richard Ruati about the situation and what's being done to help these people.
