"Graduation is not everything" for Least Developed CountriesListen /
"Graduation is not everything" when it comes to the Least Developed Countries, or LDCs, lifting themselves out of the group.
That's the key message coming from Shamshad Akhtar, Executive Secretary of ESCAP, the largest UN regional commission, which represents Asia and the Pacific.
She's attending a UN conference on LDCs which began on Friday that will review progress made during the last five years.
In 2011, the global community adopted the Istanbul Programme of Action, which charts out a strategy to achieve sustainable development in the 48 LDCs.
Ms Akhtar spoke to Stephanie Coutrix in Antalya, Turkey, where the conference is taking place.
