Syria negotiator seeks "critical mass" for political transition

Seeking to assess whether there is a "critical mass" of support for the political transition in Syria, the UN Special Envoy for the country has embarked on a tour of states.

Staffan de Mistura, the UN negotiator on Syria's recent visit to Moscow had been for that reason. He's also scheduled to travel to other countries with influence on Syria's warring parties before talks resume next week.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian coordinator for Syria, Jan Egeland, expressed his disappointment at significant setbacks in getting aid convoys to besieged and hard-to-reach areas in the wartorn country.
