Renewed fighting in Darfur displaces hundreds of thousands

Hundreds and thousands of people continue to flee the Jebel Marra area in the Sudanese region of Darfur, as air raids and clashes between government troops and rebels continue.

That's according the UN peacekeeping chief Hervé Ladsous, who briefed the Security Council on Wednesday.

Jebel Marra, a chain of volcanic rocks located between north, central and south Darfur, is being used as a rebel stronghold by the Sudan Liberation Movement.
