The lack of safeguards regarding the relocation of migrants and refugees from Europe to Turkey under a new deal is a cause of concern for the UN refugee agency, UNCHR.

The March agreement between the EU and Turkey is an attempt to stem the numbers of refugees and migrants landing on Europe’s shores.

Close to 200 people who had made it to the Greek islands of Lesbos and Chios, were taken to the Turkish port of Dikili on Monday, according to media reports.

UNHCR Spokesperson Ariane Rummery began by explaining to Jocelyne Sambira why she could not confirm the returns had started.
