Frustration mounts at obstacles to Syria aid convoys

In Syria, desperately needed aid is still not getting through to some besieged areas, the United Nations has said. War criminals in Balkans "not heroes"

People who have found guilty of war crimes in the former Yugoslavia should not be considered "heroes" according to the Prosecutor of the ICTY, the UN tribunal tasked with prosecuting crimes committed during the Balkan wars of the 1990s. Serge Brammertz was speaking before the acquittal this week of the former Serbian politician, Vojislav Šešelj, who was accused of having been involved in crimes committed by Serbian forces from August 1991 until September 1993. In late March, the former Bosnian Serb president Radovan Karadžić was found guilty of genocide and sentenced to 40 years in prison. Daniel Dickinson began by asking Mr Brammertz how the judgements handed down by the ICTY are received in the region.

"Unfairy Tales" bring much-needed attention to young refugees

The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has released a series of animated short films called “Unfairy Tales” designed to bring attention to the refugee stories of children and young adults. It’s part of a UNICEF initiative to highlight universal child rights, at a times when tens-of-millions of young refugees are on the move. The short films, which can be seen on the UNICEF website, aim to give a realistic but positive impression of the extraordinary journeys they have made. Janie Cangelosi has the story.
