Trust fund earmarked for victims of sex abuse by UN personnel

Measures aimed at stamping out sexual abuse by UN personnel worldwide are being put in place, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told the Security Council on Thursday.

Mr Ban said 99 allegations were reported across the UN system worldwide last year.

The majority—69—were at UN peacekeeping missions, including those in the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cote d'Ivoire and Mali.
