One year in to the conflict in Yemen, the humanitarian situation is extremely dire and in some areas "near to catastrophic" according to the UN's humanitarian coordinator in the country.

Yemen has been rocked by political instability for years, but a brutal civil war escalated last March, between forces loyal to the President, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, against Houthi rebels.

Four out of five Yemenis are in need of some form of aid including food, clean water, healthcare and shelter, says Johannes van der Klaauw.

He spoke on the line from Sa'ana to Tsigue Shiferaw about the extent of the crisis.
