A rating system that would rank films based on gender parity would help combat the high level of sexism women face in Hollywood.

That's the position of Cathy Schulman who produced the film Crash, which won the Best Picture Academy Award in 2006.

Ms Schulman is also President of the advocacy group, Women in Film.

Ms Schulman visited UN headquarters to present research on the portrayal of women in cinema and its consequences on the position of women in Hollywood and across the world.

She spoke to Carmen Cuesta Roca about the dangers of sexist  portrayal of women on-screen.
