The victims of terrorism around the world should be given more of a "human face" according to a senior UN official responsible for counter-terrorism issues.

The international community is gathering at UN headquarters in New York on Thursday to discuss how to support families and communities affected by terrorist attacks.

It will also look at how victims play an important role in preventing the spread of terrorism.

Reem Abaza has been speaking to Jehangir Khan, the Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force.

She began by asking him about the main aim of the meeting.
