Patience "not a virtue", says new Human Rights Council president

Ending human rights abuses in Syria and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) are just two of the key priorities of the upcoming UN Human Rights Council session, its new president said on Wednesday.

Ambassador Choi Kyong-lim , the veteran South Korean diplomat who's set to kick off a packed four-week session at the Geneva-based assembly, defended the council's role, insisting that it had made plenty of progress since it was founded a decade ago.
