Combatting terrorism while also respecting human rights is one of the aims of a two-day conference taking place in the Arab region.

The forum opens on Wednesday in Doha, Qatar, and participants will also share best practices and expectations related to the promotion and protection of human rights.

The event is co-organized by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and comes five years after the Arab Spring, the democratic uprising that swept through countries in North Africa and the Middle East.

To find out more about the objectives, Basma Baghall spoke with Mohammad Al Nsour, Officer-in-Charge of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) section at the UN Human Rights Office.
