Invitations for the latest talks on Syria have been sent to the various sides to the country's ongoing conflict.

But as preparations continue in Geneva for the start of the talks on Friday, humanitarian agencies have gathered in the Swiss city to plead for an end to the fighting so that they can support millions of people in need.

The UN estimates that 13.5 million Syrians require humanitarian aid.

The violence also makes it hard for aid workers to regularly reach 4.5 million people in hard-to-access areas.
