Yemen cyclone downgraded but damage still extensive

A cyclone which was headed for Yemen has been downgraded, but thousands of Yeminis have still lost their homes and land to flooding, according to the UN.

The coastline of southern Yemen had been threatened by Cyclone Chapala on Tuesday, but by Wednesday it had weakened to a tropical depression.

UN agencies working in the country, which has been wracked by conflict in recent months, say that more than one million people will still be negatively impacted.

Reem Abaza, spoke to the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Johannes van der Klaauw.
