Libya conflict has “debilitating” impact on human rights

Turmoil and instability in Libya are having a "debilitating" impact on the human rights situation in the country, the Security Council heard on Thursday.

Libya has been engulfed in violence, instability and political division since the overthrow of  former President Muammar Al-Qaddafi in 2011.

However, the proposed creation of a government of national unity is being seen as a way out of conflict and chaos.
