Combating corruption essential to implement SDGs

Corruption is an obstacle to progress and prosperity and holds back development, according to the UN.

The international community is gathering this week in St Petersburg, Russia, to discuss how to tackle corruption around the world and advance the recently adopted Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs.

Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Yury Fedotov, is at the meeting.

Martin Nesirky started by asking Mr Fedotov about the importance of linking development and corruption.
