Electricity essential for live-saving health care.

One of the key aims of the new development goals that have been agreed by the international community is to make sure that people across the world have access to energy. In the health sector a stable electricity supply is essential to care for patients. That's according to Dr Laura Stachel, from the non-profit organization 'We Care Solar'. The organization has been awarded a grant by the UN to fund development activities in energy for sustainable development. Siobhán Garside asked Dr Stachel about her project – the Solar Suitcase.

Older women in Kenya struggling to make ends meet

Older women in Kenya who are struggling to look after themselves must be better supported by their government. That's according to Esther Wamera, a Kenyan activist and leader for the elderly. Ms Wamera and other experts gathered at the UN to discuss the impact of the newly agreed global goals on the issue of ageing. Grece Kaneiya caught up with Ms Wamera to find out more about the challenges facing older women and initiatives the government has put in place to address them.

Digital platform to connect one million women entrepreneurs

A mobile application which aims to link one million women entrepreneurs to international markets is being launched by a tech company from Kenya. The app will serve as a marketplace for products and services provided by women across the world. It's been developed by Greenbell Communications, which won a UN-backed competition focused on boosting business with the help of technology. Assumpta Massoi has been talking to the company's project manager, Catherine Njau.
