UN human rights teams to monitor Guatemala election

Nine teams from the UN human rights office, OHCHR, in Guatemala will monitor this weekend's elections to try to prevent violence, according to the OHCHR representative in the country.

Alberto Brunori said the UN hopes an orderly democratic transition will take place.

Vice President Alejandro Maldonado was sworn in on Thursday after President Otto Pérez Molina resigned over allegations of fraud and corruption.

Jorge Miyares spoke with Mr Brunori about the recent events and the UN's role in monitoring the elections.
