Ukraine death toll nears 8,000 amid ongoing clashes

Nearly 8,000 people have died in Ukraine since the outbreak of a conflict in the eastern European country in April last year, the UN said on Tuesday.

Citing a "disturbing increase" in the number of civilian casualties, the UN human rights office, OHCHR, condemned ongoing hostilities in the east of the country.
