Music is a universal language that can bring people together in mutual respect, according to the American jazz musician, Herbie Hancock.

Mr Hancock, who is a UN Goodwill Ambassador, was speaking at the United Nations on the International Day of Peace.

Daniel Dickinson asked him why music is an important part of peace-building.

His report begins with audio from Herbie Hancock's Imagine project which uses music to express the themes of peace and global responsibility.
