Gap between rich and poor narrowing in Latin America

While the gap between rich and poor people is widest in Latin America, it's the only region of the world where the gap is actually narrowing.

That's according to Nora Lustig, a Latin American economics professor at Tulane University.

Ms Lustig and fellow economists have been studying income inequality throughout the region, but they are still unclear what specifically is behind the trend.

She spoke to Bruce Edwards at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) about the findings of their research.
