How domestic reforms can help countries expand trade abroad

Countries need to shift their focus from international trade barriers to domestic reforms that will expand trade, innovation and business growth.

That's according to Professor Douglas Irwin from the Department of Economics at Dartmouth College in the United States.

He says reforms, such as improving infrastructure, would help entrepreneurs get their goods to port cities for export.

Jocelyn Frank from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) spoke to Professor Irwin about the slowdown in world trade which has occurred over the past decade.
