"Serious" water crisis in eastern Ukraine

Up to 1.3 million people in eastern Ukraine face a serious water crisis due to damaged or destroyed infrastructure and acute shortages.

That's according to the UN Children's Fund, UNICEF, which recently took stock of the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The agency and its partners have helped more than half a million people access safe water since January, but they say more humanitarian assistance in eastern Ukraine is needed.

The European nation has been plagued by fighting which broke out between pro-Russian rebels and government forces more than a year ago.

Forty people are reportedly in critical condition.

According to UNAMA, more than 100 civilians have been injured or killed in the country during the past two days."

At risk" communities in Nepal encouraged to temporarily relocate

Communities at risk of landslides in Nepal following the monsoon season are being encouraged by the Government and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to temporarily relocate.

The UN partner organization says that relocation is voluntary.

It added that the humanitarian community and local authorities are committed to ensuring the relocation takes place in a humane and orderly manner.

Some communities are reportedly concerned about leaving land and livestock, while others are reluctant to move due to social, cultural and religious reasons.

IOM says these factors have been taken into consideration in the temporary relocation plans.
