The huge size of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is the main challenge facing UN peacekeepers, according to their Force Commander.

General Carlos Alberto dos Santos Cruz was recently at UN headquarters to brief on the UN Mission in the African country, known as MONUSCO.

He said progress is being made in helping the Congolese armed forces to reform and in combating some of the armed groups that have terrorized civilians in the eastern part of the country.

Isabelle Dupuis caught up with General dos Santos Cruz to get an update on the situation in the DR Congo.
