Participants in Libyan political dialogue renew commitment to Libya's unity

Talks on the future of Libya hosted by Germany with senior officials from a number of countries, including the United States, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom continued in Berlin on Wednesday.

The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative Bernardino León participated in the meeting where all those in attendance renewed their strong commitment to the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and national unity of Libya.

"The Governments represented at the meeting and the European Union expressed their unequivocal support for the Libyan political dialogue led by Mr León and to his proposals to reach a compromise." (10")

Germany contributes $1 million to humanitarian fund for Sudan

Approximately $1million has been contributed by Germany to a fund that is providing humanitarian assistance to needy people in Sudan.

The Office of the UN Humanitarian Coordinator says Germany is a first-time donor to the Sudan Common Humanitarian Fund.

About 5.4 million people are targeted for humanitarian assistance across Sudan with the most vulnerable women and children given priority for immediate life-saving assistance.

Nearly 1, 300 people killed in Yemen conflict

Close to 1,300 civilians have been killed and more than 3, 200 others injured in Yemen as a result of the conflict between 26 March and 7 June.

That's according to the latest figures released by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

UN humanitarian partners in Yemen also report that thousands of medical kits, mosquito nets and other health supplies were destroyed when a warehouse was hit by shelling in Taizz city on Tuesday.
