"Ordinary people" are bearing the brunt of renewed conflict in the East Darfur region of Sudan according to the UN's senior representative in Darfur.

Inter-tribal warfare driven by land ownership disputes has recently broken out again in the vicinity of Abu Karinka and Adila towns.

Two years ago 120,000 local people were forced to flee their homes in this area, adding to what the UN has called "incredible humanitarian suffering."

Priscilla Lecomte asked Geert Cappalaere, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, for an update on the situation.
