International prices for agricultural commodities continued to decline in April, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), dropping by 19 per cent compared to the same time last year.

The agency released its latest biennial food outlook report on Thursday, which includes the update to FAO's monthly food price index.

Food outlook reports look at major food commodities, such as cereals, oil crops, sugar, meat, dairy and fisheries.

To find out more about the report, Sandra Ferrari spoke with Abdolreza Abbassian, a senior economist with FAO in Rome.
