Increases in global warming of even half of a degree Celsius impact people's ability to enjoy their human rights.

That's according to the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and the Environment, who recently co-published a report on how climate change and the endangerment of human rights are interrelated.

John Knox says countries need to take steps to mitigate the harm caused by climate change instead of just adapting to it once it is occurring.

Nargiz Shekinskaya spoke with Mr Knox on the line and began by asking him to describe the main effects of global warming.
