Efforts are underway in South Sudan to ensure displaced civilians in United Nations camps are properly protected ahead of the rainy season, due later this month.

The UN is currently housing more than one hundred and sixteen thousand civilians across the country in seven so-called protection of civilian sites.

Last year many of the camps experienced heavy flooding which destroyed belongings and increased the risk of diseases spreading.

To get an update on how the camps are being prepared for the rainy season, Susan Dokolo caught up with Derek Segaar, head of Recovery, Reintegration and Peacebuilding for the UN mission in the country, UNMISS.
