Significant progress has been made in boosting gender equality across the world but much more remains to be done, according to the Deputy Director of the UN Women agency.

Gender issues are set to come under the spotlight over the next two weeks as the UN's Commission on the Status of Women holds its 59th session.

The main focus of the session will be a review of the Beijing Declaration which was adopted 20 years ago.

The UN says the Declaration is the most progressive blueprint ever for advancing women's rights.

Stephanie Coutrix asked UN Women Deputy Director Lakshmi Puri about the focus of this year’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
