Web portal for UN70 unveiled

A web portal for the 70th anniversary of the United Nations has been launched in all six official languages.

UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq says the website, presents a gateway to the rich history of the UN, its founding, its eight Secretaries-General and its many milestones over the decades.

"The organization of information will allow the public to easily find information, activities, and products related to the 70th Anniversary of the Organization."

Head of UN Women visits Ghana

The head of UN Women, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka is on a three-day visit to Ghana where she is meeting with senior government officials, including President John Dramani Mahama.

Their discussions include the strengthening of collaboration for the advancement of gender equality and women's empowerment.

Mlambo-Ngcuka will also participate in a special BBC World Debate on the Ebola crisis and response, entitled "Ebola-What next? Who runs the country when it's in crisis?"

African government ministers gather in Addis Ababa to discuss development

African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development are gathering at the UN Conference Centre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to tackle development issues.

The seven day conference is being held against the backdrop of intensive activities leading to the deadline for the Millennium Development Goals and negotiations on the post-2015 development agenda.
