Need for UN to be better equipped for complex global challenges stressed

The United Nations needs to be better equipped to meet what has been described as "increasingly complex" global challenges.

That's what the newly elected Chairperson of the UN Peacebuilding Commission, Ambassador Olof Skoog of Sweden said as the Commission inaugurated its ninth session.

He noted that 2015 marks the tenth anniversary of the Commission.

It is also a critical year in which both UN peacebuilding and peace operations are being reviewed.
