Needs of disabled highlighted in disasters

The needs of persons with disabilities should be taken into account when strategies are devised to reduce the risk of disasters.

That's according to KerryAnn Ifill, President of the Senate of Babados in the Caribbean, who became blind at age five.

She is currently in Sendai, Japan, to attend the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.

Nan Zheng asked Ms Ifill how disabled people can be part of the process of reducing the risks of catastrophic events.
