Niger radio stations take fight for gender equality onto airwaves

Radio is hugely important for remote communities in Niger and now it's being used to tackle prejudice and inequality for the benefit of all listeners.

In a bid to end damaging stereotypes, the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has come up with a guide for radio stations to promote gender equality.

FAO officer Alice Van Der Elstraiten told Daniel Johnson that radio producers in the West African country realized there was a "clear need" to rethink their programming.
