Read by 15 year old Madol, "The Lion and the Rat" is a traditional African story about friendship and the importance of accepting difference.

Madol lives on a United Nations civilian compound in Juba, South Sudan for people who have been forced to flee their homes by the ongoing conflict in the country.

He's involved in a community radio project called Conn@ctFriends which records messages from young people living in one compound which are them replayed in other UN compounds where young people are living.

This audio was collected by Radio Miraya, a radio station for South Sudan run by the UN.
