A new list of prohibited substances has come into force across the world to fight doping in sport, according to the UN Scientific and Cultural agency, UNESCO.

The list also includes several exceptions for therapeutic use agreed by State Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport.

These countries have pledged to recognize the new anti-doping list which will be added to the Convention, originally adopted by UNESCO in 2005.

The organization says the new list shows the commitment of public authorities around the world to protect athletes.

These efforts, it adds, also reinforce the process of harmonization and compliance in the fight against doping in sport on a global scale.
