An attack against a police academy in Yemen's capital city of Sana'a has been strongly condemned by the United Nations Secretary-General.

A bomb detonated on Wednesday morning killing and injuring people who were in line to enrol in the academy.

Ban Ki-moon has called for the perpetrators and those who planned for this attack to be brought to justice.

He once again urged all Yemenis to work together to fight terrorism and to help restore security and stability.

The political turmoil in Yemen started in 2011 during protests that forced President Ali Abdallah Saleh to step down a year later.

The country has been plagued by violence despite the formation of a new government on 7 November.
