Migrants provide the much needed labour and skills for the economies of industrialized countries, yet they are resented by host communities, according to an expert on migration.

On the International Day of Migrants, observed on 18 December, the Global Migration Group, which is made up of UN agencies, the World Bank and the International Organization for Migration is releasing a report focusing on youth and migration.

Patrik Taran is the President of Global Migration Policy Associates, an international association of experts working together on migration issues.

He explained to Priscilla Lecomte why the publication is focusing on this particular group of migrants who are estimated at 230 million people around the world.
