Launch of 2014 World Intellectual Property indicators

Listen /

A new report on indicators covering the areas of intellectual property is being launched on Tuesday.

Intellectual property includes patents, trademarks, industrial design, and utility models to protect inventions.

The 2014 study is being released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a global forum for intellectual property services, policy, information and cooperation.

WIPO's goal is to lead the development of a balanced and effective international intellectual property system among its 188 member states.

The organization releases a report each year, highlighting intellectual property filing numbers compared to previous years.

Prior reports show that the state of the global economy can have significant consequences on filing trends.
