A team from the African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) has found no evidence of an alleged mass rape incident that media reported to have taken place in a village in North Darfur.

According media to reports last week, 200 women and girls were raped in Tabit village.

Following these reports, UNAMID contacted Sudanese authorities so that it could verify the allegations and the team was granted access to Tabit village on Sunday.

To find out more about this, Derrick Mbatha called UNAMID Spokesperson, Ashraf Eissa who first spoke about the composition of the team that went to Tabit.
