Modern slavery proving hard to tackle in Niger

Modern-day forms of slavery are widespread in Niger according to a top UN human rights investigator who warns that young boys are being exploited and young girls trafficked to Nigeria.

Special Rapporteur Urmila Bhoola said the practices are thriving despite being illegal and akin to slavery.
