Rural women in Jordan are developing skills to manage and promote an archaeological site through a joint UN project.

UN Women and the UN cultural agency (UNESCO) aim to empower these women by linking culture and development.

The 40 women involved in the project are between 20 and 50 years of age, single, mostly unemployed and with a low level of education.

The Umm el Jimal site is on Jordan's tentative list for World Heritage Inscription.

May Yaacoub spoke with Dr. Angela Atzori, Project Officer at the Culture Sector in Amman Office, to find out more.
